2011 Rallye Defi

Starting the 2nd half of the Championship, Defi is an important event in the series.  Made up of 22 shorter than usual stages, competition becomes fierce right off the start of the first stage.  Spanning 2 days and 2 town, this event pushes teams to keep their sharp wits and not lose track of the final goal, victory.  Antoine L'Estage and crew won the event for their sixth time, and taking a stranglehold on the Championship title, after Patrick Richard had issues on Day 1 and was unable to compete for Day 2.

2011 Rallye Baie-des-Chaleurs

Located in the Gaspesie region of Quebec, this rally is one of my favourite events to photograph.  The roads are amazing, the crowds are huge, and the competition is always fierce.  This years event was just as stellar as years past, with the victory coming down to the wire.  Antoine L'Estage and co-driver Nathalie Richard were able to retain the lead with the support of their crew.  Changing the transmission in the final service, leaving late, and they were still able to hold a 20 second lead over their main rival Patrick Richard.

2011 Mt. Washington Climb to the Clouds

The Mount Washington Auto Road, built 150 years ago, was the location of Climb to the Clouds hill climb.  For those who are unsure what a hill climb event is, its definitely something unlike anything else.  Purpose built cars race from the bottom of the hill to the summit in one straight shot to see how can get the fastest time possible.  I was fortunate enough to be able to photograph this special edition of the hill climb, which hasn't been run since 1998.  Subaru Team USA Driver, David Higgins, set a new record for fastest time up the mountain, as well as winning the event, with a fastest time of 6minutes 11.54 seconds.
